Instruments, dances and musical repertoires have been meeting points between people and cultures for centuries. These musical encounters are at the heart of Xroads Festival, with a particular focus on Europe. Now in its second edition, the festival unfolds over four weekends, each exploring different musical connections and traditions.
The festival kicks off on 26 and 27 September with Valentina Ferraiuolo and her Tamburo Rosso project. At its heart is a rediscovery of the ancient traditions of the frame drum and the role of the women who have played this fascinating instrument throughout its history.
Valentina Ferraiuolo will guide the audience through three different formats: a workshop, a performance-lecture for children and families, and a concert in duo with guitarist Domenico De Luca.

SAT, 26 SEPT
– 4–6 pm La via del tamburo – Basic Frame Drum Techniques (Waag -1) (IT/EN)
An introductory workshop for beginners led by Valentina Ferraiuolo, followed by an evening jam session.

– 3–5 pm: Body and Rhythm (Waag -1) (IT/EN)
The second part of the workshop offers a deeper exploration of the relationship between body, pulse, movement and rhythmic practice.
