CREATIVE MORNINGS BZN > CURRENT by Weigh Station

The talk accompanying the September Creative Morning is part of the “CURRENT” theme proposed by the Columbia, Missouri Chapter, featuring photographer Romina Zanon as a guest. Building on the theme “Current,” the event—a blend of dialogue and participatory experience—explores poetic photography as a practice of attention, listening, and resonance.

“When was the last time you truly immersed yourself in an image, without just scrolling past it?”: In an age dominated by the rapid scrolling of images, this invitation encourages us to pause and dwell on what we see. Images that do not explain, but question; that we do not merely consume, but with which we engage. A shared moment of slow, participatory observation, to rediscover the time of the image as a present experience.

Romina Zanon is a visual artist, photographer, and researcher whose practice explores individual and collective memory, combining visual research with an intensive teaching practice. With a Ph.D. from the University of Padua, her academic work includes publications on neorealism and cinema, editing the “Fotogrammi e storia” book series, and teaching at the university level. Also active as a curator and cultural organizer, she co-founded the Family Photography Festival in 2024 alongside Claudia Marini.
