“Ember,” an English term meaning a glowing coal, represents the quiet and enduring remains of a fire. This breakfast is curated by WS Waller Nicole Fersko and is dedicated to a particular form of writing: journaling.
Diary writing has historically been considered a form of resistance, especially for women. Anaïs Nin stated: “Everyone needs a spiritual island: an inner life, cultivated and nurtured, is a source of strength… the inner structures we need to withstand external catastrophes, mistakes, and injustices.”
